Kindness

This was a week of kindness

Of being thoughtful and considerate
Of developing a kindly tongue
And refraining from unkind words
Of curbing sarcasm
Of quelling anger
Of checking irritation
Of suppressing negativity
Of giving people the benefit of the doubt
Of acts of kindness
Of positive thought
Of making the heart one tiny bit bigger.

This was a week of kindness.

"Look not upon the creatures of God except with the eye of kindliness and of mercy, for Our loving providence hath pervaded all created things, and Our grace encompasseth the earth and the heavens." -Bahá'u'lláh

I love all of the aspects of kindness that you have touched upon. I would add:
Of forgiving

Ah yes, i agree. Truth be told, i was reflecting on my own experiences practicing kindliness this past week - and so probably missed many aspects of it :) But thanks for reminding me of at least one of them!

What I like about your list is that it provides a really practical way of thinking about different aspects of practicing kindness. By "of forgiveness" I meant forgiving both others and thyself (a means of being kind to thyself and others when our humanness gets the best of us). I particularly like that you listed "Of making the heart one tiny bit bigger" because that's certainly an effect of practicing kindness. :-)
Did you write this? I like the idea of reflecting back on the past week to see whether I practiced kindness... loving... forgiveness... justice, etc.
