This was yet another week of patience
Of letting others make decisions
Of being patient with myself
Of not expecting too much
Of detachment
Of trying to be understanding
Of being accommodating
Of letting others have their way
Of waiting for others to catch up
Of walking behind, keeping pace with the slow ones
Of controlling anger and irritation
Of being calm
This was yet another week of patience

Patience has been one of my biggest lessons in recent years, definitely one I'm still learning! I love that you point out the importance of being patient with yourself -- this is such an important lesson and we're often far too hard on ourselves. And "of detachment" is so important too and can be particularly tricky when we're attached to the idea of how we want certain things to be... I don't think that detachment means being passive, though. But it does means letting go of certain expectations, searching for the highest good and letting God guide and provide us with what we need (including the tools we need) to achieve what's best for us.
And I love that you wrote out the part about slowing down your pace, walking behind...
very aptly put - thanks :) and oh, some of tht stuff about slowing down my pace was actually quite literal (think camping/hiking) :)
yes, I figured the slowing your pace was quite literal. I was just being overly discrete (clearly too much so) since I wasn't sure how many people read this blog. Now that makes me think about how we've yet to go hiking together. Sometime soon, my friend, let's definitely hike soon.
how often we forget to be patient with our own selves...really impatience with allowing God's will to unfold in its own time and entangling ourselves in the mess...a lovely piece on patience :)
